One of the most annoying of the many annoying types of errors on Windows computers is when you computer won't recognize parts that have always been a part of it, like the drives or keyboard. If your computer has stopped recognizing your CD or DVD disc drive, watch this video. As long as the drive is still connected, the steps in this video should allow you to fix the problem and continue using your drive.

This did NOT work for me in on an XP machine nor did it work we I upgraded the same machine to Win7 ... however, the drive DID work ONCE on a reboot with the Win7 installation CD in the drive. It's since resorted to being hidden again!
Thank you for sharing. I followed the steps in your video and it worked. I have my DVD/CD Drive back now.
I had recently upgraded my computer to Windows 10 using the free upgrade option offered by Microsoft for users of Windows 7 and 8, anyways when my computer was running Windows 7 My CD Burner was working fine and I was watching a bunch of videos on it and everything using the CD/DVD R/RW Drive and now apparently ever since I installed windows 10 my computer hasn't been recognizing my CD/DVD drive and I didn't realize it until just now when I went to try and burn some music onto a CD that I had recorded onto my computer from an old record using a 1962 vintage Motorola Stereophonic Suitcase record player. Anyways I had tried what you had suggested on your video but when I went to do it I only had the upper filters but not the lower filters so I deleted the upper filters and rebooted the computer like you said to in your video and it didn't work, my computer still doesn't recognize my CD Drive. HELP PLEASE!
Window 10 won't recognize my DVD drive. how could I fix it? Help me please!

Didn't work for me. Didn't have the "upper and Lower" entries.
Had entry titled "LastDeleteDate".
I watched the video, but since I am deaf, I could not listen to the dialog. What do you do to the regedit file once you find it in the system registry? It was unclear to me because I could not hear the voice on the video.
